DashPort Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does it take to load all of my reports and dashboards?

It can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on how many folders, reports, and dashboards you have in your salesforce organization.  We frequently test against organizations that have over 10,000 reports and 1,000 dashboards and have seen load times in the 3-5 minute range using a broadband internet connection.  Once your initial load has completed, subsequent refreshes of DashPort using the "Refresh" button are much faster and should complete in a few seconds depending on how many folders you have in your organization.

Can I create new reports or dashboards using DashPort Studio?

The current release of DashPort only support cloning a report or dashboard based upon an existing report or dashboard. You cannot create a new report or dashboard from scratch.  This is something we hope to address in a future release.  If this features is important to you please let us know.

Why does a user require the Modify All Data permission to use DashPort Studio?

DashPort uses the salesforce.com metadata API to access your organization's report and dashboard definitions.  Salesforce.com currently requires that a user have the Modify All Data permission to use that API even if the user would normally have access to the data through the salesforce user interface.  If you would like to see this changed please promote the idea on the Salesforce IdeaExchange.

Why do I always see the "Settings..." and "About Adobe Flash Player..." context menu items when I use a context menu?

The Settings... and About Adobe Flash Player... context menu items are part of the Adobe Flash Player and are always visible.  They will appear every time you open a context menu and you do not need to use them to use the DashPort Studio application.  For more information consult Adobe's website.
